💭 What’s the best thing that can happen to a kürtőskalács for you?
This year, the entire Kürtőskalács Festival is joining the PINK GASTRO campaign — a breast cancer awareness initiative!
That means this year, enjoying a kürtőskalács can also be an act of kindness.
Exactly five years ago, this wonderful movement was launched — and our Édes Mackó Kürtőskalács Pastry Shopjoined immediately.
The goal and vision of the campaign remain the same: to raise awareness among as many women (and men — because behind every man stands a woman, a mother, a sister, or a friend) about the importance of mammography screenings and the fact that breast cancer detected in time is highly curable.
Beyond charity, the Festival will once again take over the entire Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden, with 10 kürtőskalács stands spread across the classic Zoo area, the new playground and petting zones, and even parts of the Biodome — now with animals already inhabiting the outdoor enclosures!
We’ll also have multiple program venues: near the kürtőskalács stands, stages will feature acoustic concerts and special performances to make the wait for your favorite kürtőskalács even more enjoyable.
At the Crafts Courtyard, kids’ activities will take center stage — storytellers and puppet shows will alternate throughout the day, along with animal-themed programs.
Families can enjoy craft workshops, face painting, glitter tattoos, a selfie booth, caricature artist, traveling toy library, and even challenge each other on a giant board game or a world map quiz!
